The University of Chicago women's tennis team closed out its weekend trip to Cleveland with a perfect 3-0 ledger, as the Maroons topped Trinity University (Texas) 7-2 on Sunday morning.
The No. 9-ranked Maroon women (6-0 record) took on another ranked opponent with No. 16 Trinity University (Texas). Doubles got off to a good start with matching 8-4 victories at No. 1 and No. 2. Third doubles nearly went to a tiebreak before first-year Daryn Ellison and sophomore Alyssa Rudin pulled away to win 9-7.
First-years Claire Handa (6-1, 6-0) and Catherine Xu (6-3, 6-2) quickly clinched the team win at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively. The day's multiple winners featured Rudin, Handa, Xu and sophomore Laura Gutierrez.
