Emory Opens Georgia Southern Shootout With Doubles Action

The Emory University Women's Tennis team opened the Georgia Southern Shootout on Friday, competing in two rounds of doubles spanning four different flights.

In the top doubles draw, senior Daniela Lopez and freshman Emma Cartledge advance to the finals after a pair of wins over Division I foes. In the first round, the dup topped Winthrop 6-2 before besting Mercer 6-4.

In the GATA draw, sophomores Stephanie Taylor and Defne Olcay defeated North Carolina A&T 6-0 before falling by the same score to a team from Kennesaw State. Sophomore Sasha Hartje and freshman Christina Watson added a win for the Eagles on the afternoon, beating another team from NC A&T 6-3 before losing to Georgia State 7-5.
