Amelia Lundkvist Wraps Career at NCAA Outdoor Championships

From Brandeis University Athletics

Brandeis University senior Amelia Lundkvist (South Portland, Maine/Cheverus) wrapped up her career today at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University.

Lundkvist, competing at her third NCAA Championship of her senior year, ran in the preliminaries of the 1,500-meter run. In the second of two heats, she jumped out and stayed in the lead pack for the first three laps, but was caught by several runners in the final lap. She finished with a time of 4:38.00, just less than three seconds off her lifetime best mark to place seventh in the heat and 14th overall. Lundkvist was edged in her heat by fellow University Athletic Association runner Brianna Hickey of Chicago by 0.15 seconds. With a time of 4:37.21, Jessica McClelland of Christopher Newport, who ran in the first heat with three-time defending champion Christy Cazzola of Wisconsin-Osh Kosh, earned the last berth in the finals, 0.79 seconds faster than Lundkvist.
