The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team competed at the 10th Annual Gator Invitational host by Allegheny College on Friday, May 8. Junior Rekha Schnepf (McLean, Va./Thomas Jefferson HS for Sci & Tech) ran to a career-best in the 5,000-meter run for the women.
Schnepf had the highest finished of the day for the women as she crossed second in the 5,000-meter run in a career-best time of 18:08.80. Also on the track was junior Liz Snyder (Somerset, Pa./Somerset) and freshman Sarah Cook (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton). Snyder placed 10th in the 1,500-meter run in 5:03.42 while Cook was sixth in the 400-meter dash in 58.50.
In the field, senior Sasha Spalding (Springhill, Fla./Springstead) was fourth in the long jump with a mark of 5.17 meters as sophomore Rebecca Fortner (Navarre, Ohio/Fairless) finished sixth in the high jump, clearing 1.52 meters.
