Sarah Sisk of NYU Takes Third in 800 Meters at Roadrunner Invitational

The New York University women's track & field team competed at the Ramapo Invitational, hosted by Ramapo College, on Friday and Saturday, April 3-4, in Mahwah, NJ.
 
Juniors Sarah Sisk and Becky Turlip took third and fourth among 61 runners in the 800m. Sisk clocked 2:20.11, while Turlip ran 2:21.62.

NYU captured 14th place among 26 schools with a total of 16 points. Ithaca College won the team title with 136.5 points.
 
Highlights:
 
- Junior Kristina Harris ran a swift 12.66 for the 100m in the preliminary heats and qualified for the final with the fifth-best time. In the final race, she improved on her position, placing fourth in 12.69.

- Junior Rebecca Shimonov, with the help of a strong tailwind (+5.4 meters per second) broke 16 seconds in the 100m hurdles for the first time in her career. She ran 15.99, good for 16th place. She also placed 17th in the long jump with a season-best 4.84m.

- Sophomore Simone Cooper was 11th in the triple jump with a personal best of 10.17m. Rookie Brianna Yee finished 25th with a 9.34m attempt.

- Junior Lydia Guo placed 12th in the 400m in 1:02.17. She also ran the 200m and took 41st in 28.74, while senior Caroline Spring was 21st in the event, finishing in 26.94.
