From Brandeis University Athletics
The Brandeis track and field team participated in the Snowflake Classic at Tufts University last Saturday. The women placed sixth out of fifteen teams with 36 points.
Sophomore Haliana Burhans (Charlotte, Vt. / Champlain Valley Union) finished fifth in the 100-meter dash finals with a time 13.48 seconds. Burhans also sprinted the 200-meter dash in 27.17 seconds for sixth place. Senior Tove Freeman Oakham, Mass. / Quabbin Regional) was fifth the 400-meter dash finals with 1:00.86.
Senior Kelsey Whitaker (Kingston, Mass. / Notre Dame Acad.) led Brandeis in the 1500-meter run, coming in third place with 4:43.61. Sophomore Kyra Shreeve was eighth at 4:56.94. Rookie Julia Bryson (Quincy, Mass. / North Quincy) was fourth in the 3000-meter race, running 10:46.38.
The quartet of Freeman, rookies Ramani Dayon (Newark, N.J. / University) and Maya Sands-Bliss (Williamsburg, Mass. / Amherst Regional), and Burhans won the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:17.64, besting their competition by six seconds.
Senior Ashley Klein (Manalapan, N.J. / Manalapan) finished seventh in the javelin throw with 30.21m (99'1").
