From Carnegie Mellon University Athletics
The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team competed at the 11th Annual Gator Invitational host by Allegheny College on Friday, May 13. Seniors Liz Snyder (Somerset, Pa./Somerset) and Erin Persson (San Antonio, Texas/Saint Mary's Hall) both set career-best times on Friday.
Snyder set a career-best time in the 5,000-meter run crossing in 17:51.53 to win the event while Persson placed fifth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:57.90.
In field events, freshman Autumn Hair (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) placed third in the triple jump with a mark of 10.28 meters. Hair also competed in the long jump and jumped 4.75 meters to place eighth. Classmate Debarati Bhanja (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) placed sixth in the long jump with a mark of 5.00 meters.
Junior Rebecca Fortner (Navarre, Ohio/Fairless) and junior Emily Swanson (Atkinson, N.H./Timberlane Regional) placed sixth and eighth in the high jump after clearing the bar at 1.53 meters and 1.45 meters, respectively.
