The New York University men's and women's track & field teams participated in day two of the IC4A/ECAC Championships on Saturday, May 14, hosted by Princeton University.

The women's 4x400m relay team set NYU's new outdoor record time (3:50.53) for the second time this season. The foursome of senior Drew Washington, sophomore Ireland Gibson, freshman Justina Sanders-Schifano, and freshman Mary Conti finished 10th in the race and broke the old mark of 3:50.98, which was set less than a month ago at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships on May 23-24.

"Yet another big-time performance by this relay team," said Assistant Coach Erison Hurtault. "They beat a lot of great teams on that track to put them in the top 10 in the country. They came in really wanting to go to nationals, and are taking the appropriate steps to get there."

Junior Budd Brown ran the 400m for the men and finished in 15th place with a time of 48.33.

Fellow classmate Nick Karam finished 31st in the 1,500m with a time of 3:58.17.

Senior Max Avila notched a time of 1:54.42 to place 32nd in the 800m.

"Swarthmore on Monday will be the last chance for our distance runners to qualify for Nationals," Hurtault stated. "This week is all about putting out top performances. This is the last big week of the season to get to Iowa."
