The New York University women's track & field team participated in the Lions Invitational hosted by the College of New Jersey on Saturday, April 30.
Junior Simone Cooper continued her starring season with a new personal-best triple jump. The Tres Pinos, CA, native secured fourth in the event by finally breaking the 11m barrier with a distance of 11.11m.
Cooper would return to the sandpits to tie for ninth in the long jump, where she registered another career-best jump of 5.13m.
Senior Danielle Medellin and junior Brianna Yee finished neck-to-neck in 22nd and 23rd place in the triple jump with distances of 9.98 and 9.95, respectively. Yee would return to take 29th in the the long jump (4.66m).
"All of our jumpers today were right around their personal records," said Moore. "Overall, it was a solid day."
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Junior Dana Placentra and senior captain Ilana Brown finished close together in the pole vault in 16th (3.20m) and 20th (3.05m) place. Fellow senior Jess Eker took 30th by tying her personal-best height of 2.45m.
- On the track, freshman Anastasia Filimontseva placed 36th in the 800m posting a time of 2:32.32.
- Sophomore Megan Davis finished in 39th place in the 1,500m in 5:26.23.
"Next week the whole team will be together probably for the final time this season," Moore stated. "Everybody is excited to squeeze in some great results together before summer comes by."
