Three Event Titles Highlight Bears’ Performance at True Blue Twilight

The Washington University in St. Louis women's outdoor track & field team won three events at the True Blue Twilight hosted by Illinois College on Friday in Jacksonville, Ill.

The WashU women tallied 96 points to finish in third place out of 16 teams, behind only Greenville College (126.5) and Lincoln University (106.5). 

The WashU women won three events overall. Freshman Lisa Gorham led a first- through third-place sweep in the women's 5,000 with a winning time of 18:52.79. Senior Emily Blagg (19:07.17) and junior Carlye Chaney(19:25.62) followed in second and third place, respectively.

Freshman Mariel Lutz raced to first in the women's 1,500 with a time of 4:51.17. Senior Nicole Migotsky (4:58.71) came in third place and sophomore Anna Maurer (5:03.66) followed in seventh place. Lutz added a fifth-place finish in the women's 800 with a career-best time of 2:28.28.

Senior Melanie Ehrenberg captured first place in the women's pole vault after clearing a height of 3.50m on her second attempt. Freshman Heidi Nassos cleared 3.50m on her third attempt to take second place, with junior Natalie Newman (2.90m) finishing in fourth place and sophomore Madeleine Mullen (2.45m) finishing in sixth place.

Junior Anna Bailes clocked a time of 1:05.87 to finish third in the women's 400. Freshman Rachel Kershner (33.56m) and senior Maisie Mahoney(32.45m) secured fourth and fifth place, respectively, in the women's javelin throw. Mahoney added another fifth-place finish in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.85.
