Bears Win Washington University Mini Meet

The Washington University in St. Louis women's track & field team won the team title at the WashU Mini Meet Friday evening.

The WashU women accumulated 233 team points to win the team title over runner-up University of Wisconsin-Stout (147.5). 

Freshman Elise Grever won a pair of individual events to lead the WashU women. She raced to first in the 100 (12.45) and the 200 (25.86). Grever also teamed with juniors Rebecca Ridderhoff, Kelli Hancock and Daisy Ogede to win the 400 relay in 48.14. That time ranks second in WashU history, and was just five-hundredths of a second off the school record.

Hancock added an individual title in the 400 hurdles (1:02.14), while Ogede finished first in the 100 hurdles (14.79). They also teamed with junior Ashley Knudson and senior Emily Warner to win the 1,600 relay in 3:51.15. Warner added a first-place finish in the 400 in 57.66.

Senior Maisie Mahoney recorded the third-best throw in school history to win the women's javelin. She recorded a toss of 36.64 meters to win the event, while freshman Rachel Kershner was second with a mark of 34.57m.

Senior Ellen Toennies (4:42.09) added a first-place finish for the WashU women in the 1,500, while sophomore Audrey Western (12:20.11) won the 3,000 steeplechase.
