From Washington University Athletics
Fresh off winning the 2016 University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Track and Field Championship, the Washington University University in St. Louis women's track team moved to No. 1 in the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division III Outdoor Team Computer Rankings.
WashU was one of three teams to jump over previous No. 1 University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. The Bears have a 50.04-point lead on second-ranked Nebraska Wesleyan University, while Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College, UW-La Crosse and University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh round out the top five.
This is the first time in program history that WashU has been ranked first. The Bears' previous high came the last three weeks at No. 2.
This past weekend WashU won nine events to run away with its 14th UAA Outdoor Championship. Junior Daisy Ogede moved into the No. 1 spot in both the 100 (11.78) and 200 (24.21, and junior Kelli Hancock is first in the 400 hurdles (1:00.75).
WashU also has two relays teams with the No. 1 time in NCAA Division III: 4×100 (46.98; freshman Elise Grever, Hancock, Ogede, senior Emily Warner) and 4x400 (3:47.03, Hancock, junior Rebecca Ridderhoff, sophomore Annalise Wagner, Warner).
