From Carnegie Mellon University Athletics

The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team traveled north to Allegheny College for the 12th Annual Gator Invitational on Friday, May 12. Senior Grace Yee (San Francisco, Calif./Lick-Wilmerding) set another school record in the pole vault while four other personal-best marks were achieved.

Yee cleared 3.77 meters in the pole vault, finishing third, with a new school record that topped her own mark of 3.70 meters set earlier in the year. She's currently tied for 12th in the nation.

Graduate student Erin Persson (San Antonio, Texas/Saint Mary's Hall) won the 1,500-meter run in a personal-best time of 4:39.16. The time was also a stadium record and is third all-time in Carnegie Mellon history.

Senior Ariel Tian (Acton, Mass./Acton Boxborough Regional) set a career-best time in the 200-meter dash with a eighth-place finish in 27.44 seconds. She also raced in the 400-meter dash and finished fourth in 1:00.32.

Junior Sarah Cook (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton) and sophomore Rose Ciriello (Madison, N.J./Madison) ran in the 800-meter run placing fourth and sixth, respectively. Cook finished in 2:13.57 while Ciriello crossed the finish line in a season-best time of 2:17.30.

Freshman Joanna Baranowski (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset) set personal bests in the 400-meter hurdles and the pole vault Friday evening. She placed sixth in the hurdles in a time of 1:07.11, which is now fifth in Carnegie Mellon history, and was 17th in the pole vault, clearing 3.12 meters.
