Spartans Finish Third at Amy Adams Memorial Invitational

The Case Western Reserve University women's track and field team competed at the Amy Adams Memorial Invitational hosted by Muskingum University in New Concord, Ohio this weekend.

The women, who tallied 13 top-three finishes, placed third out of eight teams at the meet with 134.5 points. Walsh finished first (164 points) and Malone place second (146.5 points).

Winning events for the Spartan women were freshman Vanessa Pasadyn and junior Rachel Willard. Pasadyn finished first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:19.07, and added a third-place finish in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:50.01. Willard picked up a win in the triple jump with a distance of 10.60 meters, and was followed in second place by freshman Bailey Flint (10.41 meters) and in third place by freshman Samantha Kelts (10.21 meters).

Other second-place finishers for the CWRU women included junior Marie-Louise Kloster in the 400-meter hurdles (1:08.19) and sophomore Shannon Carrollin the javelin throw (33.80 meters).

Adding top performances by a Spartan during the meet were sophomore Ellen Sears in the 5,000-meter run (third, 21:13.50), freshman Kate Erickson in the 2,000-meter steeplechase (third, 8:19.00), junior Cassandra Laios in the shot put (third, 12.33 meters) and in the discus (third, 36.63 meters), and sophomore Marina Yu in the hammer throw (third, 41.97 meters).
