CWRU Finishes Fourth at Centre Invitational

The Case Western Reserve University women's track and field team competed at the 51st-Annual Centre Invitational hosted by Centre College in Danville, Kentucky on Saturday.

The women, who tallied six top-three finished placed fourth out of 16 teams at the meet with 84 points. Ohio Northern finished first (168 points), Centre finished second (91 points) and Baldwin Wallace placed third (88 points).

Winning events for the Spartan women were juniors Claire Plunkett and Cassandra Laios. Plunkett picked up the win in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:53.10. Laios finished first in the hammer throw with a mark of 46.09 meters, and added a fourth-place finish in the discus throw with a toss of 39.14 meters.

The CWRU women's 4x400-meter relay team of junior Marie-Louise Kloster, freshman Bari Love, senior Abby Casalnova and sophomore Olivia Newman finished third in the event with a time of 4:08.34.

Adding third-place finishes for the Spartan women included freshman Vanessa Pasadyn in the 800-meter run (2:22.07), Kloster in the 400-meter hurdles (1:08.04) and sophomore Shannon Carroll in the javelin throw (34.52 meters).
