Emory University head track and field coach John Curtin  has announced the appointment of Jordan Hill as assistant coach. Her primary responsibilities focusing on sprints, hurdles and horizontal jumps.

Hill joins the Eagles’ program after spending the past two years at Allegheny College.  After spending her initial campaign as assistant cross country/track and field coach, she was appointed Interim Head Coach of both programs for the 2015-16 school year. Hill enjoyed considerable success, guiding the men’s and women’s cross country teams to 2015 North Coast Athletic Conference titles and berths to the NCAA D-III Championships, where two of her athletes raced to All-America honors.  She was named the league’s Men’s and Women’s Coach of the Year in cross country.  In track, she mentored athletes to 12 school records and had 10 receive Great Lakes Region Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field honors.

Prior to her stint at Allegheny, Hill spent a season at her alma mater, Baldwin Wallace, as assistant track coach.  In that time frame, she oversaw the training and development of sprints, hurdles and relays, including that of Kevin Johnson, the 2014 DIII national champion in the men’s 100 and 200 meters. She was recognized for her efforts, being named by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as the 2014 Men’s Outdoor National Assistant Coach of the Year.

“We are absolutely thrilled that we could attract a coach of Jordan Hill’s proven ability and accomplishments to work with our sprint/hurdle/jump group,” Curtin said.  “We had a high number of quality applicants for the position but Jordan just stood out to everyone involved with the search.  She has won regional awards for her work and comes to us with a solid Division III background working with national caliber athletes in just about every event area.  She clearly understands Emory and what our student-athletes are about.  I am excited and our athletes can’t wait to get started working with her."

She began her coaching career at Bluffton University as a graduate assistant coach for the men's and women's cross country and track teams from 2009-12.  She was responsible for the training and development of the sprinters and hurdlers, conditioning of the entire program and assisting the head coach with all aspects of recruiting and meet management.  In addition, she earned a Master's of Business Administration degree while at Bluffton.

A native of Carrollton, Ohio, Hill was a standout track performer at Baldwin Wallace, where she competed in the 55m, 300m, 4x200 and 4x400 indoors and the 100m, 200m, 4x100 and 4x400 outdoors.   She earned multiple All-Ohio Athletic Conference and All-Ohio honors in both indoor and outdoor track, and helped her team to three OAC titles. As a senior, she captured the Paul “Sparky” Adams Most Outstanding Female Athlete award and the Baldwin Wallace Most Outstanding Sprinter award. She graduated in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in communications with minors in public relations and marketing.

Hill is certified USATF Level I.
