The New York University women's track & field team competed at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet on Monday, May 15, in Swarthmore, PA.

NYU's women's 4x400m relay team (sophomore Mimi Conti, freshman Evelyn Nkanga, junior Ireland Gibson, and sophomore Samantha Scoggins) came in third place with a season-best time of 3:55.53.

Finishing fifth in the 5,000m, sophomore Sabrina Herrmann ran her fastest race as a member of the Violets by recording a time of 17:20.84. Following behind was senior Lara Dorsky and junior Hannah Haleyin 24th (18:13.54) and 34th (18:42.85), respectively.

"Sabrina ran really well," said Head Coach Erison Hurtault. "She is becoming the athlete we knew she can be. She is nearing the potential she knows she has."

In the field, senior Simone Cooper took third in the triple jump, clearing a career-best distance of 11.44m. Both Nkanga and junior Brianna Yee were unable to land a legal jump in three attempts.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Freshman Tara Verma posted a time of 1:06.72 in the 400m dash, finishing in 19th place.

- The 3,000m steeplechase saw junior Megan Davis and senior Justine Morris place 16th (11:46.14) and 17th (personal-best 11:46.60), respectively.

- Sophomore Karen Yao landed in 54th place in the 1,500m by posting a time of  5:25.85.
