In the last meet before the NCAA Championships, the University of Chicago track and field teams looked to improve their national marks at the two-day North Central College Gregory Final Qualifier on Wednesday and Thursday.
The Maroons received strong performances from their women's relays. The 4x400 put up the sixth-best time in the nation (3:48.02) with the quartet of sophomore Emma Koether, senior Eleanor Kang, freshman Alisha Harris and senior Michelle Dobbs. The 4x100 was similarly successful with a time of 47.13 that ranks 10th-best in NCAA Division III. The relay was composed of Kang, freshman Mary Martin, senior Charissa Newkirk and freshman Alisha Harris.
Freshman Laura Darcey submitted the eighth-best heptathlon score (4,579 points) in the nation to take second overall at the meet. Sophomore Alexandra Thompson was a winner in the women's high jump with a top height of 1.69 meters.
