The top-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's track & field team had three awards announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Wednesday.
Senior Daisy Ogede was named the 2017 Midwest Region Track Athlete of the Year, head coach Jeff Stiles was named the Midwest Region Coach of the Year and Lane Lohr was named the Midwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year.
Ogede ranks in the top-10 of the 100 meters (9th), 200 meters (3rd), 100 hurdles (4th) and as the anchor of the top NCAA Division III time in the 4×400 relay. She helped lead the Bears to the 2017 University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Track & Field Championship by scoring 30 points individually with three UAA event titles and eight additional points in a runner-up 4×100 finish.
Stiles helped guide the WashU women to its 15th UAA title in program history in April. WashU was the nation's No. 1-ranked team throughout the entire outdoor season according to the USTFCCCA rankings and the Bears earned 12 entries into the NCAA Championship.
Lohr, in his 10th year on the Danforth Campus, helped the Bears to the top rank in the nation throughout the outdoor season. His athletes accounted for 93 of the 213 ½ points WashU scored at the UAA Outdoor Championships. Lohr will oversee nine entrants into the NCAA Championships.
Ogede, Stiles and Lohr also earned the USTFCCCA Midwest Region Indoor honors in 2017.
