Aparna Alavilli of Carnegie Mellon Records Career Best at Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic

The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team sent six athletes to the two-day Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic on Saturday and Sunday.

Senior Aparna Alavilli (Hanover , N.H. / Hanover) raced to a career-best time of 17:22:50 in the seeded 5,000-meter run Saturday evening while sophomore Abigail Levine (Bethesda, Md. / Bethesda Chevy Chase) placed 15th in the unseeded 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:44.32.

Senior Kiersten Chuc (Cupertino, Calif. / Monta Vista) competed in the hammer throw and tossed the element 42.62 meters.

Junior Debarati Bhanja (New Albany, Ohio / New Albany) raced to a time of 26.67 in the women's 200-meter dash

Senior Sarah Cook (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Hampton) finished 14th in the 800-meter run in a season-best time of 2:15.69 while junior Rose Ciriello (Madison, N.J. / Madison) finished the same race in a season-best time of 2:17.02 to place 23rd overall.
