Spartans Win Amy Adams Memorial Invitational Title

The Case Western Reserve University women's track and field team competed at the Amy Adams Memorial Invitational hosted by Muskingum University in New Concord, Ohio this weekend.

The women, who tallied 11 top-three finishes, placed first out of 14 teams at the meet with 156 points. Baldwin Wallace finished second (139.50 points) and John Carroll placed third (110 points).

Winning events for the Spartan women were senior Marie-Louise Kloster, sophomore Abby Waltz and senior Nimi Gupta. Kloster finished first in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.80. Waltz picked up a win in the pole vault with a mark of 3.20 meters, while freshman Emma Hammelef placed third with a mark of 2.75 meters. Gupta claimed the title in the hammer throw with a toss of 46.14 meters.

Other second-place finishers for the CWRU women included sophomore Vanessa Pasadyn and junior Maria DeRenzo finishing tied for second in the 800-meter run (2:23.20), senior Danielle Kulpins in the 1,500-meter run (4:45.31) and freshman Cara Giannuzzi in the 2,000-meter steeplechase (8:08.21).

Adding top performances by a Spartan during the meet were senior Skylar Braga in the 100-meter dash (third, 13.16), junior Isabel Torres-Padin in the 1,500-meter run (4:47.82) and freshman Abbey Dungan in the 110-meter hurdles (third, 17.36).
