From Carnegie Mellon University Athletics

Sophomore Emmalyn Lindsey (Eugene, Ore. / South Eugene) of the Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country and track and field teams was named to the 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-America Division III Cross Country/Track & Field Third Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The sophomore becomes the third Carnegie Mellon women's track and field and cross country runner to receive the honor and first since 2015 when Erin Kiekhaefer received the honor. Maureen McGranaghan became the first female in school history to earn Academic All-America honors in 1996-97, as that marked the first of three straight honors for McGranaghan.

Lindsey was part of the historic women's cross country season this fall when the team finished 24th at the NCAA Championships in the program's first trip to the championship meet since 1998. She finished third on the team at the meet with a career-best time of 22:22.80 on a 6k course. Lindsey also competes on the indoor and outdoor track and field teams where she leads the team in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Lindsey is a member of Global Medical Brigades and spent her most recent spring break in Nicaragua building structures and teaching communities healthy practices. The rising junior is studying materials science and engineering and biomedical engineering and holds a 4.0 after four semesters of work. Last summer, Lindsey was a R&D Packaging Intern at Procter and Gamble while she has earned a GE Women's Networking Scholarship twice.
