Washington University Takes Team Title at Billiken Invitational

The Billiken Invitational wrapped up Saturday evening with the No. 4-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's team capturing first place over multiple Division I programs.

The WashU women led the 10 team field with 152.5 points pushing past host - Saint Louis University (129) on the second day with 10 top-3 finishes.

Senior Annalise Wagner won the 800m, finishing the race in 2:12.49, which ranks fourth in Division III at the time of the races conclusion. Sophomore Sara Mesiano placed second (2:19.45).

Wagner was also a member of the 4x400m relay team which took second place. She anchored the team that consisted of freshman Sophie Grigaux, sophomore Nicky Althoff and Mesiano. The group finished in 3:59.93, and would rank in the top-10 of DIII if the same quartet had not posted a faster time last week at the WashU Invite.

Junior Heidi Nassos triple jump is tied for the 25th best mark in DIII, as she placed third overall at the invitational with a jump of 11.20m.

Also earning a first place finish for the women was freshman Josephine Simon. She placed first in the 400m hurdles with a winning time of 1:07.14. She was followed by sophomore Anna Cossio (1:10.29) and freshman Elle Hansen (1:10.86) for second and third. Cossio also placed sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.50m.
