Bears Compete at North Central Dr. Keeler Invitational

Washington University women's track and field competed at the North Central College Dr. Keeler Meet Thursday and Friday.

THURSDAY

Senior Aly Wayne placed fourth in the 5,000m run with DIII's ninth fastest time this year while setting a school record time. She posted a time of 16:51.50, which reset a mark by sophomore Paige Lawler set earlier this season. Sophomore Sophie Watterson placed 11th with a personal-best 17:15.17 that ranks 35th in DIII. Lawler placed 12th with a time of 17.15.31.

Junior Heidi Nassos took first place in the pole vault. She cleared a personal-best 3.92m in her third attempt at the height. Nassos' pole vault height ranks fifth in Division III this season.

FRIDAY

Junior Abby Martin ran to a career-best 10:45.14 time in the 3,000m steeplechase as she placed third overall with Division III's seventh best time.

Sophomore Nicky Althoff, freshman Sophie Grigaux, sophomore Sara Mesiano and senior Annalise Wagner nearly matched their season-best time in the 4x400m relay. The group finished in a time of 3:54.13 which would rank 18th in Division III, but the tandem already possesses the fifth best time (3:50.75).

Grigaux placed eighth in the 800m race by nearly matching her personal-best time. She crossed the finish line in 2:13.35. Grigaux previously ran 800m in 2:12.23 at the Billy Hayes Invite which ranks 12th in the nation.

Senior Alison Lindsay placed seventh in the 1,500m race. Her 4:35.28 time ranks 26th in Division III this season.

Also posting top-eight times for the women were Heidi Nassos in the triple jump (fourth, 11.51m), junior Jay Pittman in the 200m dash (26.69) and senior Caitlin Cheeseboro in the 100m hurdles (fifth, 15.05).
