Washington Assistant Track & Field Coach Lane Lohr To Be Inducted into MTCCCA Hall of Fame

St. Louis, Mo., Dec. 11, 2013 – Washington University in St. Louis assistant track & field coach Lane Lohr is one of five individuals who will be inducted into the Missouri Track & Cross Country Coaches Association (MTCCCA) Hall of Fame Friday, Dec. 13, in Columbia, Mo.

After winning two state high school championships in the pole vault for Jackson High School, Lohr was a four-time Big 10 Conference champion and three-time NCAA runner-up in the pole vault while competing at the University of Illinois. He was also a seven-time United States Track & Field finalist, and twice qualified for the Olympic Trial finals in the pole vault.

Lohr is in his sixth season as the assistant track & field coach at Washington University after serving as the pole vault coach in 2007-08. He was named the 2009 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Men's Midwest Region Outdoor Assistant Coach of the Year. In his eight seasons with the Washington U. program, Lohr has coached the Bears to 27 individual All-America finishes in the sprints and jumps. He has been part of the WUSTL staff that has received University Athletic Association (UAA) Track & Field Coaching Staff of the Year honors 11 times since 2009.

After getting his start in coaching as an assistant track & field coach at his alma mater from 1989-90, Lohr then became the head boys track & field coach at MICDS in St. Louis, serving in that capacity from 1994-2003 while also coaching the girls from 1996-2003. In his nine years at MICDS, Lohr coached four district championship teams with five runner-up finishes and five other top-10 finishes at the state meet. His athletes earned 103 state medals, including 10 state champion performances.

Following his time at MICDS, Lohr spent three years (2004-06) as the head track & field coach at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo. He led the Lions to a pair of men's National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) indoor national championships in 2005 and 2006. Lohr was named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2004, the NAIA National Coach of the Year in 2005, and the NAIA Regional Coach of the Year in 2006.
