Carnegie Mellon Racks Up USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Award

(NEW ORLEANS, La.) - The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the women's 2013 Division III All-Academic Track & Field Teams and Carnegie Mellon University was included on the list. A total of 148 institutions earned the distinction as a result of a cumulative team GPA of 3.1 or better.

The women's track and field team achieved a team GPA of 3.33 for the 2012-2013 school year to earn a place on the All-Academic team.

In addition to the team earning the award, senior Emily Wobb (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine Richland) andjunior Jacqueline Guevel (Dallas, Texas/The Hockaday School) were named to the team individually. Both women qualified for the award by achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better with either competing at the NCAA Championships or finishing the season ranked in the national top 35 in an individual event.

Wobb graduated with a 3.32 GPA in fine arts and finished the year ranked 28th in the 5,000-meter run with a career best time of 17:15.27. Guevel, a civil engineering student with a 3.52 GPA, competed in both the 100-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles this season at the NCAA Outdoor Championship.
