From Carnegie Mellon University Athletics
The Carnegie Mellon University women's indoor track and field team competed at the first day of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor Championships on Friday, February 28 held on the campus of Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. After the first day of competition the Tartans are sitting in fifth place.
The throwing contingent of seniors Colette
Tano (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) and Samantha
Oleson (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) led the Tartans scoring 12
of the 13 Carnegie Mellon points. Tano tossed the weight
throw two-meters over her career-best as it landed at 14.03 meters
to grab a second-place finish. Oleson took fourth place with
a throw of 12.74 meters.
Junior Sasha Spalding (Springhill, Fla./Springstead)
collected the only other points for the Tartans on Friday when she
lept 4.91 meters in the long jump.
Washington University leads the team standings with 46 points.
University of Chicago is second at 39, New York University is third
at 24, followed by Case Western Reserve in fourth at 15. The
Tartans sit fifth at 13, Emory University has 10 points, while the
host Judges tallied eight points.
