Emory University junior Debora Adjibaba broke her own
school record in the 200-meter dash, and teamed with
junior Stephanie Crane, sophomore Julie
Williamson and senior Emily Caesar to set a
program-best mark in the women's distance medley relay at the
National Qualifier on Saturday, hosted by the University of
Wisconsin – Stevens Point.
Adjibaba won the 200-meter dash at the meet with a time of 25.30
seconds, breaking her previous school record of 25.34 seconds, set
earlier this season at the Emory Crossplex Invitational. The
time converts to the seventh-fastest in Division III this season,
putting Adjibaba in position to qualify for the NCAA Championships
in the event.
Meanwhile, Crane, Adjibaba, Williamson and Caesar finished second
in the distance medley relay, becoming the first Emory women to
break the 12-minute mark in the event with a time of 11:59:08,
breaking the previous school record of 12:05.26, set at the 2012
UAA Championships. It is the 10th-fastest time in
Division III this season, putting the group on the cusp of NCAA
qualification.
Crane added a seventh-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time
of 2:16.13, the fifth-fastest time in school history.
Senior Morgan Monroe claimed 10th in the
60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.10 seconds, and
20th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.24
seconds.
For the men, sophomores Maxwell Hoberman and Adam
Rabushka, and junior Zachary Rosenberg and Gui
Silva finished eighth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of
3:21.73, the sixth-fastest time in school history, and the best
time this season by an Emory relay.
Following the completion of the last chance meets and the end of
the qualification period on Saturday, the top 15 men and top 17
women in each individual event will be selected to the field for
the NCAA Championships, in addition to the top 12 men's and women's
relays.
As of Saturday night at 11:00 PM, Adjibaba is in position to
qualify in both the 60-meter dash (fifth, 7.69 seconds) and
200-meter dash (24.92 seconds converted), as is junior Electra
Korn in the 400-meter dash (eighth, 56.46 seconds converted),
Monroe in the 60-meter hurdles (10th, 8.87 seconds
converted) and the distance medley relay team (ninth, 11:51.46
