From Emory University Athletics

The Emory University Women's Track and Field Team finished second at the 2014 University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor Championships, hosted by Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Emory's women finished with 103.5 points, edging out third-place Washington University (Mo.) by just half a point.  The University of Chicago won the meet with a score of 140 points.

Leading the way for the Emory women was junior Debora Adjibaba, who won both the 55-meter dash and the 200-meter dash on Saturday.  Her 55-meter dash time of 7.16 seconds was good for both a school and conference-meet record, breaking the previous mark of 7.19 seconds, set by former Eagle Jami Edwards in 2008, and by Adjibaba at last year's meet.

Also winning UAA Championships on Saturday were senior Morgan Monroe and junior Electra Korn.  Monroe won the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.24 seconds, while also finishing second in the 55-meter dash (7.41 seconds) to earn all-UAA honors, and scoring in the 200-meter dash with a fifth-place finish (26.88 seconds).  Korn won the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.21 seconds, the third-fastest mark in school history, while also claiming all-UAA honors in the 200-meter dash with a second-place finish in a time of 26.07 seconds.

Other individual all-UAA honors on Saturday came from junior Stephanie Crane and sophomore Julie Williamson in the 800-meter run.  Crane claimed second with a time of 2:16.73, the fifth-fastest mark in program history, while Williamson took third with a time of 2:19.08.  In the shot put, junior Josephine Akinwumiju claimed all-UAA honors with a third-place finish, registering a throw of 11.01 meters.  Emory's 4x400-meter relay team of freshman Kellie Harunk, Williamson, Adjibaba and Korn added all-UAA honors with a second-place finish in a time of 3:58.86.

Adding scoring performances for the Emory women on the final day were senior Emily Caesar in both the mile run (fifth, 5:07.31 – the fourth-fastest time in Emory history) and the 800-meter run (fifth, 2:19.65), junior Katie Wilson in the high jump (fifth, 1.53 meters) and freshman Harley Barrera in the 55-meter dash (fifth, 7.54 seconds).

All together, the Emory women combined to win four events and claim 10 all-UAA honors during the two-day meet.
