Michelle Dobbs and Chicago Coaching Staff Garner UAA Indoor Track & Field Honors

University of Chicago freshman Michelle Dobbs was named Rookie of the Year and the women's track and field coaches were honored as Coaching Staff of the Year by the University Athletic Association (UAA) on Wednesday.

The conference office announced the award winners in the wake of the UAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, which occured over the weekend.

Dobbs was the top rookie on the women's side after winning the 800-meter title. Her time of 2:16.73 edged out the runner-up by 0.56 seconds.

UChicago Head Coach Chris Hall and his staff of Laurie McElroy, Stephen Fleagle and Nicole Murphy were named Women's Coaching Staff of the Year. The Maroons won the women's team title with 140 points and five event victories to easily outdistance second-place finisher Emory University (103.5 points).
