Washington Women Finish Third at UAA Indoor Track & Field

The Washington University in St. Louis women's track & field team had two event winners on day two to lead the Bears to a third-place finish at the 2014 University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Brandeis University Saturday. 

On the women's side, the University of Chicago won the team title with 140 points. Emory University scored 103.5 points to edge Washington U. by a half-point for the second and third-place finishes, respectively.

Junior Lucy Cheadle broke her own school record by more than seven seconds to win the UAA title in the women's 3,000 for the second year in a row. Her time of 9:51.11 was more than 11 seconds better than the runner-up finisher, and ranks fifth on the NCAA Division III leaderboard this season. Senior Jasmine Williams accounted for the other UAA title for the WUSTL women Saturday. She equaled her season-best with a clearance of 1.63 meters to win the high jump, giving her two individual UAA titles after winning the women's long jump Friday.

The Washington U. women had three more all-UAA finishes during Saturday's action. Sophomore Emily Warner ran a season-best time of 58.37 to finish as the runner-up in the 400. Senior Katie Sandson finished third in the women's 55 in a time of 7.44, and just missed all-UAA honors in the 200 with a fourth-place finish (26.58), while Warner was sixth (27.40).

The women's 1,600 relay team of seniors Alison Cesarz and Nkele Davis and freshmen Kelli Hancock and Ashley Knudson also earned all-UAA honors with a third-place finish in a time of 4:00.40. Knudson added a fourth-place finish in the 800 with a time of 2:19.61. FreshmenRebecca Ridderhoff and Daisy Ogede finished fourth and fifth in the women's 55 hurdles with times of 8.80 and 8.91, respectively, while senior Madison Cannon finished fifth in the shot put with a throw of 10.65m.
