From Emory University Athletics
The Emory University Women's Track and Field Team turned in a a second-place finish at the Emory Crossplex Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama on Sunday.
Emory totaled 78.5 points, second to Lipscomb (110.5 points),
with Queens University (65 points) claiming third place.
Emory's athletes turned in a number of top performances in the
program's history during the course of the meet.
Senior Electra Korn led the way for the women, winning
the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.57 seconds, the fastest time
in the event in Division III this year, and the second-fastest time
in school history. She also had the second-fastest time in program
history and in Division III this season in the 200-meter dash,
finishing second in the event with a time of 25.18 seconds, and had
the 25th-fastest time in Division III in the 60-meter
hurdles with a mark of 9.29 seconds in the preliminaries.
Junior Julie Williamson added another first-place finish
for the women, winning the 800-meter run with a career-best time of
2:16.17, the sixth-fastest mark in the program's history and the
ninth-best in Division III for the campaign. The Eagles' distance
medley relay team of freshman Halle Markel,
freshman Erica Fischer, freshman Gabrielle
Stravach and senior Elise Viox added a sixth-place
finish in the event with a time of 13:01.56, the
20th-fastest in Division III, while freshman Zoe
Fowler finished fifth in the weight throw with a distance of
13.38 meters, the seventh-best in school history.
