Maroons Place Third at Chicagoland Indoor Championships

The University of Chicago women's track and field team captured two wins and finished in third place at the Chicagoland Indoor Championships on Friday.

The Maroons placed third out of 17 teams with 92 points scored. Lewis University won the meet with 143 points.

UChicago's women earned a pair of victories on the evening. Sophomore Michelle Dobbs sprinted past the 800-meter competition in a time of 2:15.73, which beat the runner-up by 2.06 seconds. Dobbs also ran the anchor leg for the winning 4x400-meter relay (3:55.72). The other relay members included junior Mikaela Hammel, junior Alison Pildner and sophomore Eleanor Kang.

In the one mile, junior Brianna Hickey was runner-up in 4:59.78 and freshman Megan Verner-Crist was third in 5:04.73. The high jump had a three-way tie for the top height of 1.67 meters, which concluded with freshman Ade Ayoola in second place and junior Nelson Trotter in third place. Junior Nkemdilim Nwaokolo ended up in second in the weight throw with a toss of 16.70 meters.
