Tartans Compete Strong at Tiffin's Dragon Invitational

The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team competed at the Tiffin University Dragon Invitational on Saturday, February 13.

Sophomore Sarah Cook (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton) placed third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.31, as freshman Rose Ciriello (Madison, N.J./Madison) took fourth place in the 800-meter run in 2:21.74.

Another fourth-place finish came from junior Shaheen Essabhoy (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) in the mile run when she crossed the finish line in 5:35.01.

Seniors Liz Snyder (Somerset, Pa./Somerset) and Taylor Maggiacomo (Temecula, Calif./Great Oak) finished 2-3 in the 3,000-meter run with times of 10:45.70 and 10:55.40. Snyder's time was a season-best while Maggiacomo ran a career-best. Senior Natalie Smith (Portland, Ore./Metropolitan Learning Center) also ran a career-best in the event and placed fourth in 10:59.06.

Freshman Hannah Mahon (Norwich, Vt./Hanover) placed sixth in the high jump, clearing a career-best 1.52 meters, while freshman Autumn Hair (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) jumped a career-best 10.24 meters to place seventh in the triple jump.
