Emily Bryson Sets Brandeis Record in Mile Run

From Brandeis University Athletics

Brandeis University sophomore Emily Bryson (Quincy, Mass./No. Quincy) established a new school record in the mile run this weekend as the Judges sent a split squad to the Boston University Terrier Classic and the Tufts University Stampede.

Running on Friday evening, Bryson's time of 4:52.18 bested the previous school record of 4:54.82 established by Grayce Selig '11 by more than a second and a half. After converting the time because of a banked track, Bryson's time is the top-ranked mark in Division III this season also by approximately 1.5 seconds and is the fastest in the University Athletic Association by five seconds. Bryson was 13th at the meet, behind a handful of independent and Division I runners.

Also running at Boston U. on Friday night, sophomore Doyin Ogundiran (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills East) recorded a two-second personal best in the 800-meter with a time of 2:19.14. That mark is third-fastest in the UAA and 40th in Division III.
