Eagles Place 8th at BSC Indoor Icebreaker

The Emory University Women's Track and Field team opened its 2016-17 indoor season Friday with the BSC Indoor Icebreaker at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala. The Eagles finished eighth out 18 schools at the meet with 22 points and were the top finishing Division III program.

Emory led off the meet receiving 14 of its 22 points in the 3000m Run. Sophomore Kaylee Slade took second with a time of 11:10.50 with freshman Kristina Koh clocking in behind at 11:22.83 to take third.

Senior Alexa Young registered a fourth place finish in the 800m Run with a time of 2:20.72 and sophomore Radhika Shah crossed the finish line in sixth, finishing with a mark of 2:23.74.

Freshman Amy Hunter earned the lone Emory points out of the field performers on Friday, taking fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 11.26m.

The Eagles closed out the meet, finishing in seventh in the 4x400m Relay with a time of 4:06.87.

Other notable finishers for Emory at the meet include: freshman Isabel Saridakis in the pole vault (9th, 3.25m), freshman Kaitlyn Iwanowicz in the long jump (10th, 5.18m), sophomore Jordan Small and freshmen Nyla Lindo, Justine Zienowicz and Emily Behan in the high jump (T-11th, 1.50m), sophomore Gracie Potokar in the shot put (13th, 10.06m), freshman Ileana Zeissner in the mile (13th, 5:38.39), sophomore Dani Bland in the 60m Dash (21st, 7.96) and 200m Dash (20th, 26.37), sophomore Dilys Osei(21st, 26.38) in the 200m, freshman Gabrielle Davis in the 60m Hurdles (22nd, 9.62), freshman Kaitlyn Leonard in the 400m Dash (25th, 1:01.57) and freshman Kemdi Okafor in the weight throw (26th, 9.87m).
