Eagles Compete at KMS Invitational

The Emory University Women's Track and Field team was in action Sunday afternoon at the KMS Invitational at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama. There was no team scoring at the meet.

Junior Gabrielle Stravach turned in one of the best performances in school history in the one-mile run, finishing second in the event with a time of 5:02.97. Her time represented a personal-best and was the second fastest time ever recorded in program history.

Sophomore Dani Bland also had a strong showing on Sunday, placing 17th (1st among DIII) in the 200m Dash with a time of 25.57. Her time marked a new personal-best and was the eighth fastest time ever clocked in school history. Bland added a 23rd place finish in the 60m Dash, tying a personal-best with a time of 7.86.

In the 4x400m Relay, the quartet of freshman Kaitlyn Leonard, sophomores Hayley Moyer, Ariana Newhouse and junior Erica Goldman placed 10th overall with a time of 4:03.93. Their time marked the fastest by an Emory 4x400m relay team this season.

Freshman Kemdi Okafor led the Eagles in the field events, registering a team season-best mark of 11.63m in the weight throw. She finished 21st overall and second among Division III performers.
