Evelyn Nkanga of the New York University women's track & field team represented the Violets at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track Championships. The competition is being hosted by North Central College on Friday-Saturday, March 10-11, in Naperville, IL.

The freshman landed in 15th palce in the triple jump by clearing a distance of 11.36m.

"She is not excited about the finish, but it is still a big accomplishment to be competing at this stage," said Head Coach Erison Hurtault. "She is looking forward to coming back. Evelyn definitely wants to come back in the triple jump, and is a great 400m runner. She will be looking to earning the University Athletic Association (UAA) title again in the outdoor season."

The Sayreville, NJ, native qualified for nationals after posting a career-best jump of 11.52m at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Indoor Championships this past Saturday, March 4, in Ithaca, NY.

"Coach Nadia Eke did a great job," added Hurtault about his assistant coach. "She put out our first jumper in nationals in years. I cannot remember the last jumper to qualify. That's big."
