Washington University Ranked No. 1 in Preseason Poll

The Washington University in St. Louis women's indoor track and field team is ranked No. 1 in the preseason United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Computer Rankings.

The Bears are ranked No. 1 for the first in program history. The previous best was third, which it accomplished in 2012 and 2016.

The WashU women received 128.61 points by the computer ranking system which narrowly edged the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's 128.50 points. Filling out the top-5 teams on the women's side were Williams College (112.23), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (110.84) and Ithaca College (92.67).

University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (148.16), MIT (127.79), SUNY Cortland (94.69), University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (91.93) and Benedictine College (88.55) were the top-5 men's programs in the computer rankings.

The women return seven All-Americans and the men return two. Returning for the women are seniors Kelli Hancock (1,600 relay), Ashley Knudson (DMR), Daisy Ogede (1,600 relay, 200), Rebecca Ridderhoff (1,600 relay), and juniors Alison Lindsay (DMR), Annalise Wagner (DMR, 800) and Aly Wayne (5,000). Returning for the men are seniors Deko Ricketts (DMR, 800) and Mike Sullivan (DMR).

In 2016 the women finished third during the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championship behind national champion finishes in the 200 and 1,600 relay.
