Jordin Carter Surpasses Brandeis Weight Throw Record Again

From Brandeis University Athletics

The Brandeis University track and field teams continue to pick up steam as they roll toward the approaching championship season. Competing at the Tufts Cupid Challenge at Tufts University the team put up some very strong performances highlighted by multiple DIII New England qualifying marks.

TOP WOMEN'S PERFORMERS

  • The women milers represented Brandeis well with senior Kyra Shreeve (Northborough, Mass./Algonquin Regional) and first-year Andrea Bolduc (Auburn, Mass./Auburn) both placing top 10.  Shreeve placed 7th in 5:20.18 to qualify for the Division III New England Championships.  This is the second event Shreeve has qualified for New Englands, after doing so in the 1000m on the same track last week. Bolduc continued her consistent freshman campaign running a personal best 5:24.27 for 10th.
  • Leinni Valdez (Providence, R.I./Hope) ran 1:40.81 in the 600m to place 4th.  The time was a small personal best for the freshman who continues adding to the impressive results being put up by the women's middle distance runners this season.
  • In the 60m-dash junior Kanya Brown (Amherst, Mass./Amherst Regional) sprinted into the final with a time of 8.23. She placed 7th in the final running 8.29.  Both times were faster than anything the junior had run this season showing that she is rounding into form as the season progresses.
  • Senior Jordin Carter (Fort Wayne, Ind./R. Nelson Snyder) had a great day in the throwing circle.  Carter has been a force in the weight throw this season, and she continued her terrific improvement by resetting her school record, established last weekend. Carter placed second with a throw of 14.91m (48 feet, 11 inches).  Carter also recorded a 6th place finish in the shot put, throwing the implement 10.60m (34 feet, 9 ½ inches).
