Chicago Women's Track & Field Captures UAA Title

The University of Chicago women's track and field team came through with a big final day to capture its fifth University Athletic Association Indoor Track and Field team title Sunday, edging Day 1 leader Washington-St. Louis, 138-129.

Sophomore Laura Darcey won her second event title in two days to lead the Maroons, as she helped UChicago go 1-2-3 in the high jump, winning the event with a jump of 1.68 meters. Teammates Alexandra Thompson and Ade Ayoola were right behind her in second and third with heights of 1.62 meters. Darcey captured the long jump title on Saturday.

In total, the Maroon women earned 11 more all-UAA finishes on Sunday, totaling 14 for the weekend. Saturday's included Alisha Harris (second) and Mary Martin (third) in the 60 meters; Martin (second) and Nicole VacaGuzman (third) in the 200; VacaGuzman (second) in the 400; Megan Verner-Crist (second) in the mile, Ayoola (second) in the shot put; and the 4x400 relay team (second) – which edged WashU by one second --- of Emma Koether, Martin, Olivia Cattau, and VacaGuzman.
