From Emory University Athletics
The No. 4-ranked Emory volleyball team kept its winning
ways intact on Saturday with two wins on the final day of action at
the Emory Classic. The Eagles defeated Randolph-Macon College, 3-0,
(28-26, 25-18, 26-24) in their first encounter of the day before
posting a hard-fought 3-1 decision over Bowdoin (25-19, 25-16,
21-25, 25-22). The two triumphs upped the squad's winning streak to
nine matches while raising its overall record to 11-1.
Emory was able to hand Bowdoin its first setback of the
season in nine outings after hitting .265 (47-16—117)
compared to the Polar Bears' .171 (44-23—123).
Senior Leah Jacobs was the lone Eagle to
finish in double figures with 15 kills, finishing the contest with
a .289 attack percentage (15-4—38). It was her eighth
performance of the year with 10 or more successful attack
attempts. Sophomores Jessica
Holler and Sarah Maher each
chipped in eight kills with Holler hitting .312 (8-3—16)
while adding six digs. Junior setter Sydney
Miles doled out 35 assists and pounded out six kills in
the victory while senior Kate Bowman topped
the team with 12 digs, her
10th performance of the season with
double digits in that category.
Sophomore Kathryn Trinka totaled a
team-high nine kills in Emory's contest against Randolph-Macon.
Holler registered seven terminations and four block assists in the
match that saw the Eagles hold the Yellow Jackets to a .126 hitting
mark (38-23—119). Bowman racked up a team-high 15 digs in
helping Emory to a 49-37 advantage in that
department.
