The No. 3-ranked Emory volleyball team closed out its
participation at the University Athletic Association Round Robin II
on a successful note Sunday, defeating host Chicago. The Eagles
raised their overall record to 27-3, 6-1 in the UAA, following a
3-1 decision (25-19, 26-28, 25-22, 25-20) over the Maroons who
slipped to 20-11, 4-3 in the league.
Emory concluded the contest hitting .272 (65-15—179)
with its 65 terminations the third-highest total of the season.
Four Eagles rang up double figures in kills, led by
sophomore Jessica
Holler who notched 14 terminations to go along with
a .538 hitting percentage (14-0—26). Holler also came through
with a career-high tying 10 blocks (0-10—10), sparking Emory
to a 14-4 advantage in that category. Sunday's finale capped a big
weekend for Holler as she topped the team in kills (3.27 kps),
hitting percentage (.489) and blocks (1.67 bps).
Senior Leah Jacobs chalked up 13
terminations, her 20th match of the
season in double digits, while sophomore Kathryn
Trinka and senior Cat
McGrath contributed 12 and 11 kills, respectively, with
Trinka adding five block assists. Junior setter Sydney
Miles distributed 50 assists, her fifth outing this
where she had reached or surpassed that total, and chipped in 19
digs. Senior Kate Bowman paced Emory with 22
digs.
