The New York University women's volleyball team won its final match of the 2014 season, defeating Brandeis University at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on Saturday, November 8, at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA.
NYU ended its campaign on a high note by sweeping the Judges in three sets (25-20, 25-15, 25-22).
The win earned the Violets (20-18) a seventh-place tournament finish at the Championship, while the Judges (7-24) settled for eighth place.
"This was a dominant game by our players overall," said Head Coach Jolie Ward. "This was a strong send-off for our seniors."
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Senior Sonya Bray tied for match high with 10 kills.
- Senior Katie Robinson hit double-digits with 18 assists for the Violets. She also recorded eight kills.
- Senior Allie Williams hit the match-winning kill and totaled four for the contest.
- Sophomore MaTia Hughes tied for match high with 12 digs.
"Sonya, Katie and Allie led the team in spirit and presence the
entire match," Ward added. "They didn't want to lose their final
match. In addition, both Sonya and Katie provided amazing
offense,"
The match marked the conclusion of the Violets' 2014
season.
