From NYU Athletics
The New York University women's volleyball team posted two
victories on day one of the Stevens Invitational on Friday,
September 26, hosted by the Stevens Institue of Technology in
Hoboken, NJ. The Violet defeated both Ramapo College and the United
States Coast Guard Academy 3-0.
"We did a really great job pushing the offensive tempo
today," NYU Head Coach Jolie
Ward said. "Nicole Frias,
especially, looked great in the middle. We're looking forward to
two more tough matches tomorrow."
RAMAPO
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Kacy Guajardo led all
players with a match-best nine kills, swinging .438 in the
process.
- Gigi Morally was second
on NYU with seven kills while hitting a match- and career-high
.538.
- Emily Moore (match-high
17 assists) and Katie
Robinson (13 assists) continued their primary
setting duties for the Violets.
- Zoe
Prince and MaTia
Hughes tied for a match-best with three service
aces each. Hughes added a team-high nine digs while Robinson was
right behind her at eight.
COAST GUARD
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Frias finished with a match-high 11 kills.
- Morally and Sonya
Bray each totalled nine kills, while Robinson
finished with eight.
- Moore (17) and Robinson (14) once again led the Violets in
the assists category.
- Hughes had a match-best 18 digs,
while Josie Luck was second with
13.
