From University of Chicago Athletics

The University of Chicago volleyball team extended its win streak to five matches and defeated Edgewood College and University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire at day two of the Carthage Invitational on Saturday. The Maroons improved to 9-4 and went 4-0 at the invite.

Junior setter Ragine Graves and junior outside hitter Maren Loe were both named to the All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the weekend's matches.

UChicago 3, Edgewood 1 (25-27, 25-14, 25-21, 25-11)

After Edgewood narrowly took the first set at 27-25, UChicago was dominant in winning the next three sets to finish off the match. Five different players collected double-digit digs, including 22 by senior libero Eirene Kim and 19 by sophomore libero Mary Claire Tuohy. Graves set a career high with 51 assists and Loe smashed 24 kills.

As a team, the Maroons served up eight aces and totaled a .201 attack percentage.

UChicago 3, Wisconsin-Eau Claire 0 (25-19, 26-24, 25-20)

UChicago opened their final match with a 6-0 lead in the first set and a 19-12 advantage later on. The Blugolds won five-straight points to make things interesting before the Maroons won four-straight points to end the set at 25-19.

Wisconsin-Eau Claire led midway through the second set 14-9, and UChicago responded with a 11-3 run. With the match tied late, senior outside hitter Morgan Barry scored two kills to give the Maroons the set at 26-24.

The third set saw UChicago win seven of eight points midway through to build a 20-12 lead that it would not relinquish. The Maroons finished the match off at 25-20. The team hit for a .210 attack percentage and served up 10 more aces.
