From University of Chicago Athletics

The University of Chicago volleyball team did not drop a set in 3-0 victories versus North Central College and Bluffton University at day one of the Benedictine University Eagle Classic on Friday.

The Maroons improved to 22-11 on the season.

UChicago 3, North Central 0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-15)

The Maroons cruised past the Cardinals in straight sets behind a .259 attack percentage. (40 kills, 12 errors, 108 attempts). UChicago served up seven aces and made three blocks. North Central was held to a .026 attack percentage (25 kills, 22 errors, 114 attempts). The Cardinals totaled five aces and did not record a block in the match.

After taking the first sets with a pair of late pushes, the Maroons ran off nine-straight points in the third set to win the match. UChicago bettered their previous effort of the day with a .271 attack percentage (43 kills, 14 errors, 107 attempts). Freshman outside hitter Makenzie Elder tallied five of the team's nine aces. UChicago also posted seven blocks. Bluffton hit .162 (33 kills, 17 errors, 99 attempts) for the match with one ace and two blocks.
