Washington University in St. Louis junior middle hitter Jackie Nelligan was selected as the Sports Imports/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III National Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the organization.

Nelligan, who was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week Monday, is the 19th individual in Washington University history to earn National Player of the Week honors. It marks the 26th time in the history of the award that an individual from Washington U. has been recognized.

Nelligan averaged 2.78 kills and 1.00 block per set to lead the No. 7-ranked Bears to a 5-0 record a week ago, including a pair of wins over top-15 teams. She finished the week with a .453 attack percentage and 18 total blocks, and was one of six individuals named to the all-tournament team at the 11-team Elmhurst Invite.

In a five-set win over No. 14 College of St. Benedict Friday, Nelligan matched her career-high with 18 kills, while hitting .429. She followed that with back-to-back error-free matches as Washington U. swept University of Wisconsin-Platteville and No. 11 Eastern University Saturday. In those matches, Nelligan combined to hit .536 with 15 kills and zero errors. Overall, she hit above .400 in four of the Bears' five matches on the week, and now has eight matches hitting above .400 this season.
