On our last day in Rome, we took a bus to the Vatican to see St. Peter's Basilica, The Sistine Chapel, and to walk around St. Peter's Square. As we walked through the Sistine Chapel, we were able to admire the works of Michaelangelo and Raphael. This was the only rainy day of our trip, but it did not hinder our admiration of the historical city, and it gave us a chance to cool off from the heat.

After the Sistine Chapel, we headed to the Basilica and all stood in awe of the beautiful structure and its works of art. Some of us were also able to touch the feet of St. Peter's statue.

As we headed towards the bus, the walk soon became a brisk one due to more rain. Once we made it to the bus, we headed back to our hotel and were able to have some free time to get lunch and wander around Rome. Our group was quite hungry after such an eventful morning and found a little place to sit down and have some delicious gnocchi, lasagna, and tortellini.  Once finished with our meals, we set off to find what we knew could be our last scoop of gelato in Italy.

Fully satisfied, we went to further explore the colosseum and the ancient ruins that we had seen the day before. After our free time was over, we all met back at the hotel to begin packing and praying we had less than 50 pounds in our checked bag!

For our last meal in Italy, we ironically ended up at an American-style bar and restaurant. It featured popular '70s and '80s music and some iconic American memorabilia. We were served deep fried mozzarella balls, olives, and chicken nuggets with fries as our appetizer. We then had what we believe was turkey and gravy. Then of course, we had dessert, which was either gelato or tiramisu.

After a little taste of home, we headed back over to the colosseum to experience it's beauty at night where we had an impromptu team photo shoot.

All in all, we all agreed that this trip will be something we will talk about fondly for years to come, and an experience we were glad we all got to share together as teammates.
