The No. 2-ranked Emory volleyball team used a balanced offensive attack Friday afternoon as it defeated Birmingham Southern in the semifinals of the Mount Berry NCAA Regional on the campus of Berry College. The Eagles boosted their overall record to 34-3 following a 3-1 (25-13, 23-25, 25-21, 25-23) decision over the Panthers who closed out their season at 25-6.

Emory hit .258 (58-17—159) compared to BSC's mark of .169 (51-21—177). The Eagles also enjoyed an edge in the digs category, registering a season-best 94 vs. 76 for the Panthers, as well as 14-6 cushion in total blocks.

Freshman Karissa Dzurik led the Emory offensive effort, pounding out 14 kills, tying her second-highest season effort, and hitting .367 (14-3—30). Junior Jessica Holler totaled a dozen terminations to go along with her .370 hitting percentage.  Holler played a key defensive effort, racking up a season-best nine total blocks (1-8). The junior tandem of Sarah Maher and Kathryn Trinka rounded out the quartet with 10 kills apiece. Senior setter Sydney Miles finished with 47 assists and 12 digs with freshman Becky Breuer leading the squad with 18 digs.
